JST (Japan Science and Technology Agency) held a two-day workshop on “Sino-Japan cooperation on science database and information” in September. Experts and researchers from JST,Nii,NDL,ISTIC,LAS exchanged their views on science databases and e-journals from two countries and reach a comprehensive consensus on further cooperation. Japan is a developed and economical nation with excellent infrastructure for science research. Japanese researchers are excel in planning and executing scientific activities. we both share the worries of margin zed by West culture and need to cooperate each other to achieve stronger cultural self-respect in the fast changing world. The idea of developing science databases in Japan is not the most advanced in the world but the most doable for Japan. Databases developed by JST included Jdream,J-Stage and Read etc which are example of databases for Chinese counterparts although we have 3 e-journals databases published by companies like VIP and Tsinghua Tong fang. Japan is our friend neighbor who should be entrusted in the future for a better Asia where east culture will revive and emerge as the Third Pole of the Earth.
