虽然现在Mozilla主站页面上还没有改，但FTP站点上已经把Firefox 2.0正式版放出来了(如果这个人太多，可尝试连接releases.mozilla.org，可能是动态分配的一些镜像站点)，从帮助－关于里面已经可以看到：

主要新特性在Beta以及RC版本中已经见识过多次，这里重复一下：

界面重整，增强可用性也更漂亮；
内置防钓鱼功能；
增强搜索兼容性，提供Google/Yahoo/Answers的搜索建议，中文简体版缺省的搜索是Yahoo，当然可以改成Google；
标签页浏览功能增强，加了关闭按钮，也可用扩展随意调整；
崩溃后重启时自动载入浏览器进程；
可重新打开无意中关闭的标签页；
预览及订阅RSS；
文本框内嵌拼写检查；
活动标题；
扩展管理器更新；
支持JavaScript 1.7；
增强的搜索插件格式；
更新扩展系统增强安全性并使其本地化更简单；
支持客户端进程及固定存储；
支持SVG文本（svg:textPath）
Windows安装程序使用Nullsoft Scriptable Install System；

Windows版安装程序做了更新，看上去更漂亮些，没有那些或太大或太小的字了；直接装到1.5版的目录中即可，也可继续使用先前的Profile，但也可以搞个全新的Profile来用，方法是在启动命令后加上 -p ，就启动它的Profile管理器了。

主要的扩展目前都有，包括Googletoolbar，Noscript，Adblock Plus，Tabmix Plus等。这个Tabmix Plus要用作者主页上的最新版，他在Addons网站上有说明。用这个扩展可以对标签浏览进行详细（简直是太多）的设置，功能很强。另外常用的Delicious扩展还没有更新到位。Firefox自己发现Blog上的RSS Feed之后点地址栏那个图标即可进行订阅，订阅的网站可以在选项中进行设置。

这个2.0普通反映启动快了点，显示网页也更快，内存使用也更好，甚至有人反映说比IE7更好

所以，强烈推荐升级。如果以前没用过，更是暴力推荐去下一个来试试。

The 2004 election saw a big rise in voter participation, particularly among the young generation. From my perch at Rock the Vote, I believe one reason the trend is finally moving in the right direction is the rise of such Internet tools as online voter registration. So I jumped at the chance to tell you about the new U.S. Election Guide in Google Earth.

If you’ve already turned on the guide as a layer in Google Earth, you might already have noticed the patriotic stars now adorning the U.S. map. There’s one for every congressional district. Click on the star and it opens a set of links to useful voter tools. First, you can click to register to vote. I love this because so many people still think that in order to register, you need help from a government employee or political activist. Wrong. You can register yourself to vote by getting your forms online and sending them in by mail. Spread the word!

Second, there are links to news, web and photo searches for candidates for the U.S. House and Senate races on November 7. Now, I think a squirrel could figure out which way to go on our presidential candidates and political parties. But an educated vote does require some Google searching, especially when candidates try so hard to blur the differences.

This is a promising direction for Google and I hope it’s the start of something big. I’m looking forward to the day when voter participation tools are ubiquitous online -- and for those of you with any inclination to get involved, there’ll be nothing standing in your way.

背景 Atom Exec DS970 与 Windows Mobile 的 Atom Exec 搭配无恙。从配对开始觉得比“老一辈”蓝牙耳机人性多了，以前有个罗技的，启动配对模式得长摁7，8秒，很不人道。现在摁住开关2秒即可，配对成功后可以从设备（手机或者电脑）看到 DS970 提供的 Hands Free 和 Wireless Stereo 服务。买之前不清楚因而担心的蓝牙立体声非常给面子，先给手机打个电话，两听筒里传来了非常清楚的立体声 MP3 铃声，效果比机身的立体声扩音器效果好多了，之前认为关于过于夸张的音质宣传现在觉得确实不错。之后用 Windows Media Player 放了几首歌尝试，除了声音没问题外，通过耳机控制前后歌曲和音量调节也可以。用做蓝牙耳机时非常方便，配对后，只要手机的蓝牙开启，耳机的蓝牙开启即可，不需要其他操作，自动连接之后耳机中会有提示音。如果要切换音乐收听模式，按一下音乐播放按钮就好了，挺方便。设计周全之处是，如果本来就在听音乐，而铃声也是 MP3 之类的音乐，那来电时播放的音乐铃声中会插入嘟嘟声，防止哪个大头以为自己还在音乐播放中。其他什么声控啦，拒接都是常规功能，不表。使用耳机时，Windows Mobile 的 Title 栏，相关对话框和应用程序会有个耳机标识，还是认得出的。唯一有点不习惯的是类似入耳式设计的耳塞。

最近的几个周末，在家里无聊，下载了一些电影看。好电影看的不多，烂片不少。

《无间道风云》(The Departed, 无间行者)

看排行榜这个电影最近在北美票房似乎还不错。我的评价是：烂片一部! 最让我反感的是情节设计。都什么年代了，还搞什么"出售微型芯片给中国之类"的垃圾故事，那个大陆来的黑帮老大活像一个广州火车站附近出没的流窜犯。

《朝鲜半岛》

韩国人的意淫大片。说什么韩国一条新修的铁路要开通，可是日本不让，理由是 100 年前日本和韩国有协约，否则日本企业就撤出韩国。于是韩国人就找了一个爱国愤青历史学家，去调查这个事情。最神奇的是，韩国这条铁路，居然途径中国和俄罗斯(莫非我听错了?)，咱也不知道这铁路到底是怎么修的。虽然很有耐心，还是只看了一小半。

《深入敌后II：邪恶轴心》

这是美国人的意淫片，香港的王晶最擅长趁机炒作一些短平快的题材，这样的导演美国也有。朝鲜最近搞核爆试验，美国人在最恰当的时间放出来这个电影。"邪恶轴心"这回的轴心是朝鲜，说的是美国检测到朝鲜搞了一个导弹，似乎还有核弹头，这下美国人挺害怕，有一个天才将军主张直接军事打击，后来想想不行，"军事专家"和政要讨论了半天，决定派几个天才去把这个导弹破坏掉。飞机飞到半路，来了最新指示说不搞了，可是跳下、掉下去四个人，于是故事开始了......别的不说，那里面北朝鲜的军人形象很不符合，太胖，一看就是韩国人扮演的。

《台风》

怎么又是韩国?(联想到韩国最近连汉字都说是他们发明的，可能这种自我满足就是他们所擅长，唉，再也不看韩国片子了) 这个片子大致的意思是说南北朝鲜人民阴差阳错搞出来的仇恨，甚至最后搞出来一点兄弟情，当然顺便韩国人要借"英雄"的眼里鄙视一下中国军人和居民。如果中国大陆拍一点韩国人掉面子的事情，估计韩国人又要寻死觅活的搞什么断指自焚之类的事情了，他们埋汰中国倒是心安理得。

《新街口》

主演之一是雪村。虚假、做作是这部电影最大的特色。看完这部电影，让我想起了当年“青山”出的那一系列摇滚磁盘拼盘。

《匈奴王阿提拉》

这是一部老片子，不知道最近怎么又被翻出来了。阿提拉掠来的那个女奴穿的衣服完全可以拿到现在的 T 型台上--太现代了。最大的战争场景都不超过 100 个人，有点像早年大陆拍的成吉思汗的电视剧。没耐心看到最后，唯一的好处是从此我知道了历史上有个备受争议的阿提拉。

10月18日，为期一个月的“搜虫活动”正式结束，通过对网友提交数据的分析，有效“虫子”的比例非常低，这给了我们一个大大的鼓励，这说明我们一年来对雅虎搜索质量改进的努力初见成效。现在，更大规模的用户体验活动又开始了。10月23日，“搜索引擎谁是谁？”雅虎搜索盲测挑战活动拉开序幕。

盲测是一种市场调研方法，又称为隐性调研。在调研过程中，被测试产品的品牌、名称、包装或其它可以识别的内容要求隐藏起来，不给被测者过多的提示。盲测经常用于抽查新商品以检验其与老商品的可比性及竞争性。

盲测方法是搜索引擎评测用户体验改进的有效途径，也被搜索引擎服务商广泛采用。本次活动采取的是最简单的对比盲测方法：将两家搜索引擎的品牌和差异信息都隐藏掉，只保留关键的搜索结果，由用户凭借自己的搜索体验来判断：哪个是自己最喜欢的搜索引擎？

我们的活动分为两个部分：

热词挑战：采取封闭测试模式，从网友每天几千万的查询日志中选择出热门的100万关键词，用户可以在其中随意选择进行判断。每轮测试包括四个关键词。

自由挑战：如果您觉得热词挑战还不过瘾，可以继续进行参加开放式测试。在这一轮，用户可以随意输入关键词，对比不同搜索引擎的返回结果。

each words correspond to a numerical code by adding the alphabetical values of its letters together. this number is mapped onto the position on a circle, & marked by a red dot. gray lines connect the dots in the sequence the words appear in the poem. the diameter of the circle on which the dots are placed is decided by the length of the poem.
