We launched Google Apps for Your Domain at the end of August, and since then we've been getting great feedback from people all over. Organizations from Thailand, Argentina, and even our neighbors in Palo Alto have set up private-label Gmail, Google Talk, Google Calendar, and spiffy customizable start pages for their custom domains. We think it's especially cool that thousands of students are able to connect better with their classmates -- and their schools' IT directors no longer need to wring their hands over spam and clogged inboxes.

"Hey, wait, Costin," you say. "That's great for them, but our organization doesn't have a custom domain."

Well, I'm excited to let you know that we've made signing up for Google Apps for Your Domain much easier for those of you that don't yet have your own domain. We've partnered with GoDaddy.com and eNom, two leading domain registration services, to offer domains for $10 per year. And I like the fact that we're including private registration to protect your personal information.

Now you've got one-stop shopping for all the services currently on the Google Apps for Your Domain platform -- just find a domain, buy it, and get started. We'll do all the behind-the-scenes configuration work for you. For now this is available for .com, .net,.org, .biz, and .info domains, but we're working on bringing it elsewhere soon. We're also constantly working to introduce more cool new features to this service, so be sure to check back for updates.

a physical installation inspired by the idea of a ring that translates the bearer's emotional condition into a changeable color hue. at the request of remote viewers on the artwork site & from a computer station just outside the installation room, the Public Mood Ring software searches for the mood of a current public issue represented by instant Internet news text. a series of animated web pages allow users to pick a news story & a cultural color model, & then displays the results of the search engine as the mood outcome, which determines the LED color shown at the installation site.

santa-at-beijing-googlesanta-at-beijing-google Hosted on Zooomr

Source favicon10:07 网吧 » Blog on 27th Floor

Source favicon08:17 Blog Stats Rollout » Burning Questions - The FeedBurner Weblog

Earlier this summer, we acquired Blogbeat, the nifty blog statistics product, and we're happy to announce that the work of porting the service to our architecture and interface is complete. If you are a current BlogBeat customer, the blog stats team will be contacting you over the next week about enabling your FeedBurner account for testing the service. If you are a FeedBurner user who loves our feed stats and would love love love to use our new blog stats service, we say to you, "oh so soon!" Love is fleeting but statistics are forever. We want to get feedback from the first couple dozen Blogbeat customers we convert and make sure things are working smoothly and consistently before we open up the service to the rest of the world.

What will FeedBurner site statistics include? Plenty!

Here are a few screenshots to tide you over for the next couple weeks, just to get a sense for how things will look and feel when you use FeedBurner to track your site statistics. As you would expect, it looks a lot like your FeedBurner feed stats dashboard. (Click thumbnails below to view larger images.)

Next Steps
We'll probably take the end of the year to sort out the kinks, bugs, and whatnot reported by the first wave of users, and then we'll open things up to everybody right after the New Year assuming no major troubles. There will then be a series of shorter iterations in order to roll out some follow-on services that we've already identified.

Source favicon04:46 The Top of Live Search for 2006 » Live Search's WebLog

Live Search went live in 2006, and it has been a great year for us and our users searching the Web. With the year drawing to a close, we decided to put together lists of the top searches for 2006. These lists are the result of studying our anonymous logs for the most searched queries in all the countries and regions our users search from.

After putting together the list of the Top 10 searches for this year, we became curious about which queries gained the most popularity compared with last year. As you can see in the list of the top gainers from last year, the 2006 FIFA World Cup popularized some soccer related searches. Because soccer was so popular overall, we decided to see what else was popular in soccer searches in 2006.

When you search the Web, we know you’re looking for more than just web pages, so we put together a list of top searches for additional categories: celebrity images, news, products, and travel.

Please let us know what you think by posting comments on this blog, or by using our feedback page.

Thank you for all your searches in 2006!

Source favicon01:55 Holiday goodies from Picasa Web Albums » Official Google Blog

What’s a holiday without the memorable (and embarrassing) photos? The holidays are almost here, which (at least if you’re in my family) means babies chewing on presents, the dog dressed in a ridiculous reindeer costume, and someone (cough, Uncle Charlie) passed out after too much eggnog. Although I think about this now and wince in advance, I know that I’m going to want to capture these moments and more importantly, share them with the rest of my family and friends. That’s why I’m excited about the new features we’ve added to Picasa Web Albums, just in time for the holidays.

Print ordering is my favorite—it’s something you have told us you've wanted since we first launched. Now, when you or anyone else views photos in Picasa Web Albums, there’s an option to order prints directly from the site. We currently offer prints and products from Shutterfly and PhotoWorks, but we’ll be adding more soon.

Other new features include video upload for easy sharing (it’s just like with photos—select them in Picasa and click the “Web Album” button) and searching tools. Now you can search over your own captions, album titles, and album descriptions, and you can even search for photos in your friends’ public albums. Digging up that picture of me trying to figure out which end of the holiday turkey is "up" should be easier than ever.

So check out these new features before all the festivities start. And however you celebrate the holidays this year, I hope you’ll take lots of pictures.
