RSS: http://www.xintiantang.com/joywave/index.xml

Snow can wait, I forgot my mittens
Wipe my nose, get my new boots on
I get a little warm in my heart when I think of winter
I put my hand in my father’s glove

I run off where the drifts get deeper
Sleeping beauty trips me with a frown
I hear a voice ’you must learn to stand up for yourself
Cause I can’t always be around’

He says when you gonna make up your mind
When you gonna love you as much as I do
When you gonna make up your mind
Cause things are gonna change so fast
All the white horses are still in bed
I tell you that I’ll always want you near
You say that things change my dear

Boys get discovered as winter melts
Flowers competing for the sun
Years go by and I’m here still waiting
Withering where some snowman was

Mirror mirror where’s the crystal palace
But I only can see myself
Skating around the truth who I am
But I know, dad, the ice is getting thing

When you gonna make up your mind
When you gonna love you as much as I do
When you gonna make up your mind
Cause things are gonna change so fast
All the white horses are still in bed
I tell you that I’ll always want you near
You say that things change my dear

Hair is grey and the fires are burning
So many dreams on the shelf
You say I wanted you to be proud
I always wanted that myself

When you gonna make up your mind
When you gonna love you as much as I do
When you gonna make up your mind
Cause things are gona change so fast
All the white horses have gone ahead
I tell you that I’ll always want you near
You say that things change my dear

Never change

All the white horses

Source favicon19:19 The death of a master: Chinese media on Qi Gong's passing » Danwei RSS 2.0
"Study to teach others; act as an example to the world."Calligrapher and classical scholar Qi Gong passed away last week. His death was front page news (see this post on Danwei for a cover image), and many newspapers ran several pages looking at his life and work. Memorial activities over the next few days included a candlelight ceremony at Beijing Normal University. China Daily calls him "the best-known calligrapher in the public's eye." Qi Gong's unique style of calligraphy is immediately recognizeable, and, the papers say, he hardly ever refused a request, so examples of his work can be found all over. At Beijing Normal University, where he had worked since 1952, he came up with and wrote out the school motto (pictured). Practically every building on the BNU campus has a sign in his wiry hand as well - the joke goes that he even did the "Men's" and "Women's" signs for the restrooms. In cities around the country, one can glance at certain buildings and know immediately that Qi Gong did the sign. His running style was encoded into a font that is available for download online (see the links at the end of the post).

China.com was one of the dot com boom's darling China portals, but has since become just another mediocre portal cum SMS service cum general Internet services company. Lately however, it seems they are trying to revitalize their content by hiring some editors from state-owned lads mag Xinhua, who have unearthed girlie photos of someone they say is the last Qing emperor Pu Yi's great great granddaughter. The photos are thusly annotated: Times have really changed: if you saw so much flesh of a Manchu princess 100 years ago, you'd get your head chopped off, or at the very least have your eyes gouged out.

The great great granddaughter of the last Qing Dynasty emperor Pu Yi is now in Hong Kong working as a model. Because of her imperial blood, she really attracts people's attention... Only thing is, Pu Yi didn't have any children, so it's not too clear who this girl is. But the five images of her on China.com put FHM China to shame. Source favicon14:13 Lucene使用者沙龙 » CNBlog: Blog on Blog

车东的演示主要专注在WebLucene方面,简要的介绍了Lucene的来龙去脉、基本功能以及在gRaSSland(我也是在这次沙龙上第一次知道了gRaSSland的来历,这个名字起的有趣)的一些实践。

Source favicon10:01 Is the terracotta army in danger? » Danwei RSS 2.0
Dust to dust...Domestic papers reported yesterday on a study that found that the terracotta soldiers in Xi'an may be in danger of succumbing to pollution. Sources were the BBC, the AP, and the South China Morning Post (China Daily merely ran the SMCP article in its entirety). According to Cao Junji of the Chinese Academy of Sciences' Institute of Earth Environment, gradual erosion may reduce the vast army to a coal pit in a mere hundred years. Fungus could erode prominent features long before then. The main reason, says Cao, is the museum's lack of technical expertise: "From a museum's point of view, it is doing a good job as long as the antiquities are not lost." This comes at the same time that it was decided to leave the excavation of the tombs of Qin Shi Huang and Wu Zetian to later generations who would have better technology. Today the curators of the museum blast back. In an article in Xi'an's China Business View (which cites the bogeyman of "international media" without naming Cao as their source), a museum representative is quoted saying, "This position is unsupported by logic or data. What kind of scientist did this study?" The museum has international-level climate controls, they claim, and while fungus was present when the figures were unearthed, and there is slight erosion due to occasional damp ground, the army is remarkably well-preserved for having seen tens of millions of tourists. And according to reports, the museum has already launched a 2 million RMB assessment of air pollution inside the hall housing the soldiers, to be completed in 2007. Perhaps at that time we will find out if there is a genuine problem, or if this is all a non-issue hyped up by the international media.
