Just when you thought Google didn't get "social," Google Reader introduced a nice new feature: sharing of feeds. Click on the new "Share" tab and it allows you to publish items by label or by their star. For example, on this address I'm sharing a couple of feeds I labeled "google." Google also allows me to generate an Atom feed for this. You can also put the items on your website by grabbing a piece of HTML code. You can customize its appearance, length, title, and other details. Here's an example wid ...

If you had the misfortune to take Beijing public transportation during rush hour yesterday, you may have seen a new on-board traffic TV service. The ad delivery machines that have appeared in around 10,000 taxis and buses throughout the city will now deliver up-to-the-minute reports of traffic jams and accidents so you'll know why your commute is taking so darn long.

Beijing All Media and Culture' s ad network will run five hours a day of traffic-related programming - views from more than 700 cameras installed throughout Beijing will be processed by BAMC, with the results sent out to viewers in cabs, buses, and the #13 subway line.

BAMC also says that starting in June of this year, individuals will be able to subscribe to the mobile television service, allowing them to recieve updates on the World Cup while they are stuck in traffic.

BAMC's promo spot is here. Why read the newspaper or gawk at passing beauties when you can watch ads in the comfort of the back seat of your taxi?

Más feeds means más opportunities in the FeedBurner Ad Network. As more and more Spanish language publishers have added feeds to FeedBurner, we are now offering targeted advertising opportunities for Spanish language content. The available inventory consists of content from some of the top blogs, blog networks and popular sites across geographies and subject matter, including Weblogs SL's Xataca and Hipertextual's Alt1040. Many of the feeds already have tens of thousands of subscribers. If people in the office would stop joking around and give us the proper combination of ALT-key sequences to make an upside down question mark, none of which have yet resulted in an upside down question mark, we could properly ask a few rhetorical questions about our excitement at this continued expansion.

Yahoo! España is running the inaugural advertising campaign in many of our Spanish language feeds. The campaign promotes the use Mi Yahoo! as an easy way to read feeds. Read about the launch in our press release or subscribe to the Spanish version of our blog, Ardiendo for more info.

Eduardo Arcos, CEO of Hipertextual, has this to say, "We have a very good understanding of our readership via RSS feeds because of FeedBurner. The potential for advertising campaigns within feeds is huge and we know FeedBurner is the best company to handle it."

While we're on the topic of Spanish-related things, we also want to point out the availability of FuenteClara, our BrowserFriendly service that is designed to make the feed subscription process easier for those who may not know their XML code from their favorite Museo del Jamón. Also, there are a number of Spanish FeedFlare units that have been developed including Mariano Di Biase's "Post to Meneame".

If you are interested in advertising to subscribers of Spanish-speaking feeds or you want to learn more about FeedBurner services, email our reseller Kanben Consulting, S.L. for more information.

Wow, I found the new Windows Live Mail [WMV] really disappointing. At the moment, it's an invite-only Hotmail upgrade. First of all, it doesn't work with Firefox -- you need to switch to IE6 to get the new view. I only have IE7 on this system and gave it a try. Most things worked, but some things didn't; I can't open links in emails, for example. The search functionality also didn't work. A long, long time ago, Beta used to mean "we think we fixed all bugs, but this is the first public testing so it's likely more bugs will surface". Microsoft, on the other hand, is releasing something as Beta which should have been an Alpha -- "we know there are lots of bugs still, but take a look anyway." (Add Google's "etern ...

In any case, I'm releasing the full source for Upwarded.com [ZIP] under a GNU GPL/ CC license. All you need is Apache/ PHP5/ MySQL; for more see the contained "readme.txt". You can either create your own website based on this and republish your changes under the same license, or simply have a look at some of the functions or the site structure.
