The other day, while we were humming along to Bad Company on the office stereo, we started thinking about all of the music-related content running through FeedBurner. We do that sometimes. Even though some of us are still trapped in a previous decade, the rest of the industry seems to have grabbed their lighters and rushed to the stage we like to call feed management.
As far as major labels go, Epic Records is using FeedBurner to manage a number of its artists' newsfeeds, podcast and videocast feeds including Franz Ferdinand, Eighteen Visions and the Audioslave video podcast to name a few. More are on the way.
Beyond the major labels, there are a bunch of the Individual artists who are getting in the feed game. Los Lobos launched an exclusive podcast to help promote their new album The Town and the City. Bob Mould is blogging on a regular basis. The SF-based band Tea Leaf Green, known for their active engagement with their fans, offers feeds for their podcasts, videos, news, shows, setlists and photos.
Right in our backyard, we're managing treadmill statistics (oops, we mean feeds) for our hometown favorites Ok Go. Another Chicago band we'd follow anywhere is Wilco. They are burning tour updates and their podcast through us. Finally, we'd be remiss if we forgot to tell you to Look Look Look at MC Hammer's feed. You better believe we're subscribed!
In addition to the artists themselves, there are a bunch of music blogs offering FeedBurner feeds including Stereogum, our very own Justin Ward's Live Music Blog and podcast, Largehearted boy, Aquarium Drunkard blog and podcast and Gawker's new blog, Idolator.
These feeds are performing too. Largehearted Boy recently told us, "FeedBurner simplifies the RSS experience for Largehearted Boy, leaving me more time to listen to music and read in my free time instead of tweaking code. FeedBurner's one feed has not only replaced the three separate RSS feeds for Largehearted Boy, but its FeedFlares allow me to customize my feed quickly and easily. An added (and unexpected) bonus, the FeedBurner Ad Network, monetizes my feeds much better than Adsense ever did."
Music news and reviews are another popular category. liveDaily, a jam-packed site, offers news and the rough mix. JamBase is another. And you can get your hip hop news fix with the latest headlines from Hip Hop Press.
Want to explore more music? The Association of Music Podcasting offers a weekly podcast sampling the latest material from the 50+-member organization. You can also check out the participants in FeedBurner's Music Network to find more material to sample at home or on the go.

刚开始看还觉得写的很一般,逐渐读起来才感觉到每个人物的活灵活现,习惯了每天睡前读书,那天差点熬夜一口气读完。个人感觉最后一个人物的介绍有些败笔。

图片中的Gumball Machine(糖果盒)是今年7月份,雅虎总部向全球所有工作满5年时间的员工派发的礼物。糖果盒很别致,浪漫紫的外壳,胖胖的糖果桶,金属风格的底座,当然还有可口的糖果粒,一切看起来是那么的Funny。我很喜欢这样的创意,体现了Yahoo的风格,发现、分享、创造、让一切有趣并充满想象力。
告别大学校园的生活,入职雅虎中国已经快5个月了,回忆这个过程,每天的工作紧张但是很充实,就像是一粒粒的饱满的糖果值得咀嚼和回味。
紫色 橙色 灰色
我是个视觉动物,刚刚进入雅虎时,感受最深的就是公司的色彩。比较常见的是紫色、橙色和灰色。紫色是雅虎的标志色,在公司的许多地方,打眼一看,就能够发现印有“Y!”标签的物品,日常工作中最常用的胸牌、办公桌的布景、公告板,还有身上的T恤都是雅虎紫;橙色是那种很鲜亮的,墙壁、走廊、门禁、会议室等地方都被装饰上这种色彩。我喜欢这两种颜色的搭配,紫色让人感到安静,橙色让人感到愉悦。地板的颜色是灰色,看起来很干净,让人心里也畅快,由于经常打蜡,所以走在上面的时候常会发出“嘎吱嘎吱”的声音,像在雪地里一样。天气好的时候,窗外的阳光打进屋内,放眼望去,色彩和同事忙碌身影的结合,是一片的升腾。
隐修会 PM

6月,一个阳光明媚的下午,雅虎中国的隐修会成立了。隐修会是我们雅虎的产品经理(PM)进行研习和培训的一个组织。定期都会有不同部门的大牛们前来授课,根据大家的需求,每期培训一个主题,涉及到产品设计和开发的各个方面,这样好的学习机会怎能错过。培训后,长老们会组织自己小组的成员进行主题讨论,我们“圣殿骑士团”小组选择的聚会时间是中午,吃饭FB一下是免不了的,餐桌上大家把作业的主题确定后,选出项目经理,分工合作完成既定的任务。
为何把产品隐修会翻译成Priory of Champion,个中来由颇有创意。Champion的英文读音和中文的“产品”颇为相似,又有“冠军”的中文释义,两层涵义相得益彰,再加上Priory的中文意思是“修道院”“隐修院”,于是就有了这巧妙的组合。
处处是武侠
部门的命名采用武侠小说中的帮派名称,比如网站运营部“逍遥派”、网站产品部“点苍派”、通信技术部“王屋派”等等。会议室的名字也延续了这种风格,五指峰、桃花岛、烟雨楼、高昌迷宫、胜观峰等,颇有武侠色彩。
于是,常常会听到同事们这样的对话,“奔哪儿?”“光明顶”,“哪儿培训?”“百花谷啊”,“会议室定哪儿了?”“思过崖”...
