前两天接触到这样一段台词:We were making out the other day. Things got a little en fuego. She drops the bomb. She’s not gonna have premarital sex until she’s married.
说话的人是个比较“没脑子”的角色,每每听到别人用稍微深奥一点的词就会一头雾水(不妨想象Friends里的Joey)。既然他都能那么顺畅地说en fuego,想必这个短语十分大众化。赶紧google了一下,发现原来en fuego的流行是拜ESPN的主持人Dan Patrick所赐。
In 1994, when calling the highlights for a game in which Marv Albert described Sam Cassell as being “on fire,” Dan Patrick said he was “el fuego”, which he thought was Spanish for “on fire.” A few months later, he received a letter from a Spanish teacher in Pennsylvania suggesting that he say that athletes are “en fuego” (on fire) rather than “el fuego” (the fire). Since then, Patrick has used “en fuego” on certain occasions when a player is said to be “on fire.”
Note that “en fuego” is an Anglicism in Spanish, since it is a literal translation from English (and could be also translated as “in fire”– that is, “in flames,” which has nearly the opposite meaning); as such, other translations would be more fitting, e.g., prendido (”lit” or “fired up”). Patrick started using the “en fuego” phrase because he believed the standard “on fire” phrase had become cliché. A more practical way to translate this phrase could be “a fuego” which carries all the meaning the “on fire” English phrase has.
Dan Patrick has used this phrase twice in music videos:
* In the 1995 Hootie & the Blowfish song “Only Wanna Be With You”, where he called the group, who was using their money to purchase several sports teams in the video, “Dare I say they’re anything but ‘en fuego’.”
* In the 2002 Brad Paisley song “I’m Gonna Miss Her (The Fishin’ Song)”, with the quote “Brad Paisley, dare I say, ‘en fuego’.”
简而言之,en fuego可以当on fire的同义词来使用。比较常见的情景有两种:一是形容某人(或某队)状态很好,炙手可热;二是形容某情形或场面比较激烈、火爆。

吃小吃聊天,香港人称之为“饮茶”,在早上或午饭时间到茶楼品茗和吃点心,是不少香港人每天的例行习惯。今天中午受邀和《明报》刘进图先生一起“饮茶”,地选在好苑建国的唐宫(刘太说这里的香港点心还算地道)。刘先生是《明报》主笔、法律事务主任、驻内地主任,一个专业严谨令人尊敬的资深媒体人。
很多香港人到北京,依然保持着喝汤吃、点心的习惯,假日的主要节目也是找地道的香港餐厅,然后邀请几个在北京的香港人共叙,并点评这家店里的菜品是否地道。所以虽然到北京仅4个多月,刘先生迅速对北京最好的粤菜馆和香港点心店都有了一个全方位的了解。国庆大假的时间居然大都花在穿梭于各大港味店会朋友品美食上了。
刘先生说北京最好的港味店,首先当数金宝街金宝大厦3楼的利苑酒家,很地道。消费档次属于奢侈的那种,来请客户吃饭,人均几千元都是轻而易举的事;但如果不点那些鱼翅海鲜,几个朋友人均几十块钱喝喝茶、聊聊天点几个点心小菜,也行。
其次据说是东三环外的东海海鲜酒家,以海鲜和点心为胜。
第三是太平洋百货旁边的海悦/凯悦酒店里的粤菜馆,具体名字我也没听清楚。据他说以前这里味道排第一,但现在退到第三了。
对于金鼎轩这样被很多英文旅行手册热推的粤菜餐厅,刘先生评价说他们虽然价格低分量大,但是放了很多味精,吃过口干,不地道。香港人最爱吃原味,所以粤菜讲究清淡可口,少盐少味精。
评价一下唐宫海鲜,口感非常好的点心有:虾皇饺(很大一颗虾)、金牌鲍鱼酥(甜咸口,很烫)、虾仁肠粉(粉嫩)、煎萝卜糕(用XO酱炒的,很好吃呀)、蟹黄烧卖(里面貌似又是一陀一陀的大虾仁,头上点了一点蟹黄)、蛋挞(皮儿酥,蛋羹有点甜,一综合还很好吃)。
我们在不好吃的点心上,口感仿佛都很好统一:蟹黄小笼包(刘吃了一口说是冰冻的蟹黄,我吃着也一般),白灼介蓝(端上来就没卖相,刘一口没动。粤菜做成这个死去活来的样子,真是挺丢人的哈)
今天的汤一般,排骨西洋菜杏仁儿汤,汤少大半碗儿肉垫底儿,看着刘只喝汤不吃肉,我也没好放开。刘还很体贴的给女士要了一碗“糖水”(银耳雪蛤木瓜),准确的起到饭后填缝的作用。
饭后打着咯、迈着轻快的脚步步行返回。晚上吃啥捏?

The third Chinese Blogger Conference was over on last Sunday. I have come back to Shanghai for several days, but just got time to have a recap.
Several speeches/panels were the most impressing on the conference, including microblogging panel, grassroots media panel, Antiwave speech and Yeeyan speech. The speakers not only have done great jobs during the last year, but also presented well on the stage.
The panel moderated by me was the social application panel, the second panel on the first day. Wealink, Linkist, Geni and Haokanbu were on the stage, Aggua joined as a last minute panelist.
It was asked why we didn’t talk about OpenSocial? The answer was simple: time’s up. We were about to be on that topic when we stopped. On the other hand, I don’t think any of the panelists had really compelling point of view on that day, since we were all on our way to Beijing when OpenSocial was formally available.
As Ian Chin, president of Wealink, pointed out on the panel, Chinese social networks were still in a disappointing winless season. If it was not the success story of Facebook, the topic we covered on the stage would have been totally different one.
OpenSocial will not be the saver of domestic social networks. Most of them were not ready to be a platform yet. Wearing the common interface suit won’t do much good to them. My hope is that some of them will be open enough to provide friend-list hosting service. Six Apart’s Relationship Update Stream is a good example, but still too heavy weight from a technical point of view.
I was taking note during the conference, but instead of repeating the content which have been covered by others, I will just write down these words directly related to my panel. I have heard that the conference was considered too Web2.0 focused. Why not suggest the right topic for the next year early? The organization of the conference is open enough.

写完网络营销十技后,有很多觉得对不起大家的地方。
我的本意是想把SEOer的目光带离开SEO,从更宽广的角度去考虑网站运营,所以介绍一下SEO之外的网络营销手法。不过开始写了之后才意识到,想把这些网络营销手法讲清楚,靠一两篇博客帖子是远远不够的。
通常写SEO博客时,可以聚焦在非常细节的问题上。一篇帖子谈一个很细的技术问题,一般可以讲的比较清楚。但一个网络营销手法要求的篇幅却要长的多。所以有不少读者都觉得这一系列帖子不够深入,都是点到为止,天真同志还觉得有空空的感觉。
我在写完第一篇帖子的时候,也已经意识到了这个问题。因为已经写够了正常帖子的篇幅,发现才刚刚开了个头,一些具体问题根本来不及说。像第一篇帖子电子邮件营销,需要讨论的至少还包括:
要想真正对读者有帮助,达到能实用的程度,上面这些问题都得一一讨论。所以每一个网络营销技术恐怕都得写十个以上的帖子才能讲的比较完整。
所以我在考虑是不是可以写一本网络营销教程,把我这些年所了解和使用过的网络营销手法一一介绍给大家。
以前提过SEO教程的事,不过近期刚刚出了两三本SEO方面的书,有免费电子版,也有印刷出来的书。虽然印刷出来的书还没有看到,不过好像评论不错。所以我想就算我再写SEO方面的书,内容也大同小异,不会差别很大。
反倒是网络营销方面的书,就我目前所看到的,还不太多。以前回国的时候也买过网络营销教程,感觉理论比较多,实用性比较低。
我们一直提倡SEO从业人员把目光放远大,提升到网络营销高度,所以现在在考虑是否写一本网络营销方面的书。目前的计划是正式出版,不是电子书。如果大家有什么建议和想法,欢迎留言。
